Students should return these books on their next library day.  If a student has not finished reading a book, they should ask the library staff to renew it. If a student does not bring a book back on time, it is considered overdue. The student will not be able to borrow any more books until that book is returned.

Library Events

Celebrate: Reading Night!

TIS families and staff came together on April 25 for Celebrate: Reading Night! The evening was filled with fascinating read-alouds such as Swimmy by Leo Leonny, The Quiltmaker’s Gift by Jeff Baum and Goldie socks and three Libearians by Jackie M. Hopkins. Activities involved making Eric Carle creatures, tissue paper collages, poetry reading, scavenger hunt, ponded flower bookmarks, finger puppets, dramatic read-alouds, and creating silly stories. Thank you to all the families that came out to our Reading Night!

Story Time in Different Languages – in the Elementary Library

On April 23 three elementary classes joined Mrs. Liesl for a story time in Afrikaans. Mrs. Liesl also taught students how to pronounce letters R and G, which was quite interesting and challenging. This week student will join Mrs. Tamami for a story time in Japanese. Mrs. Tamami will share a story by Allen Say titled “Tea with no Milk”. This is a story about cultural differences and how sometimes transitions and moves to a different country might not be easy, but we can adjust as long as we try our best.

Books Open Doors – April 15 – 26

Elementary classes will vote for their “Best Book of 2012-2013″ and share it with the TIS community by creating a large book cover to go the classroom door. Parents are invited to take a tour and enjoy all the creative doors!

Bookmark Design Contest
The contest is now officially closed! A group of judges chose the winners! The winners' bookmarks will be published and made available for all the readers to use. The winners will all get a certificate, a book, and a set of their own bookmarks as a prize!
